  • Thomas Chamberlain - President of U of WI, 1987 - extension movement advocate
  • Frederick Jackson Turner - Professor of History, University of Wisconsin 1889-1910; extensive lecturer & advocate for extension movement
  • Jerome H. Raymond - Sec. of University Extension, U of WI; established correspondence courses, 1894
  • Charles R. Van Hise - President of U of WI, 1903-1918; supported correspondence program
  • William H. Lighty - Secretary of Correspondence Study, U of WI, 1906 & Director of Extension teaching 1907-1937
  • Louis E. Reber - Director & later Dean of University Extension, U of WI, 1907-1926
  • William R. Young - Supervisor of Correspondence Instruction at Penn State University - while drafted, proposed Army Institute at Madison, WI, 1942 (became USAFI)
